Early on Thursday, January 10, 2019, Howard Parker Arrington left this life and joined his wife Mary in heaven. Born September 11, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida to Thomas Hayes Arrington and Rose Margaret Parker. Howard was raised in Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee and spent significant time with his maternal grandparents. He played tuba and drums in his High school band, spent 2 years in the Army and went on to play upright bass in several jazz band and combos, touring extensively through the Eastern U.S. with the Buddy Bair Big Band. After a stint selling mobile homes in Ohio, Howard became a traveling instrument salesman for King Musical Instruments. He retired from King as Vice President of Marketing in the mid 1990’s. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1998 and went to work at Summerhayes Music in Salt Lake.
Howard married Mary Louise Starr in February of 2000 and moved to Birch Bay, WA. They spent 14 happy years together before Mary passed away in July of 2014. Howard is survived by his 2 sons, Howard Parker Jr. and Michael Joseph, and his sisters Mardi Llewelyn and Henri Caldwell.
A memorial service will be held for Howard at the Latter Day Saint church, 2550 Thornton Road, Ferndale, WA. Saturday, January 26, 2:00 p.m.
