Howard Webstad was born November 9, 1938 in Bellingham, WA to Reidar and Olga (Larson) Webstad. He passed away on March 7, 2025 after a three-year courageous struggle with cancer. Howard graduated from Bellingham High School with the class of 1957. While in school, he was a member of the ski club and the stage crew. After high school, he attended Western to get his degree in Business Administration before deciding to join the Marines.
After serving with the Marines, he pursued a career in real estate and investing. He worked in sales at Sudden Valley, Kelstrup Real Estate, and Northwestern Realty with Rich Dawson and Darrell Bornstein. Sales and investing quickly became his passion. He enjoyed the challenges of sales and the opportunity to meet and work with the Bellingham community. The friendships that he formed with the families and friends meant the world to him.
Howard enjoyed golfing, skiing, playing racquetball, and taking long walks at Squalicum Harbor. He participated in many golf tournaments in Bellingham and Oregon, always finishing in the finals. His brother, Norm, would often act as his caddy. They loved spending time together out on the golf course.
Howard is survived by his brother, Norm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 25 at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham.
Many thanks to Darrell Bornstein for his lifetime friendship with Howard and the care he always provided during difficult times, and to the many physicians and nurses that cared for Howard over the years, especially Dr. Patterson and Dr. LeTellier.
Memorials in Howard’s name may be made to the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center.
