Irene E. Petersen passed away on July 6, 2012 at the age of 62. Irene was born on March 4, 1950 in Bellingham to Albert and Beverly Petersen. Having special needs, Irene was cared for by Holly Services of Whatcom County. She was a member of First Christian Church where she volunteered making greeting cards. Irene’s loves and interests in life were #1 Elvis Presley, The Special Olympics, spin dances, bowling and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters; Kathy Wheeler of Bellingham, Diane (John) Cook of Eugene, OR and Jayne (Marty) Witman of Lynden as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 9 at 11:00am at First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice House, 2800 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225 hospicehelp.org.
