Ivan Kraemer

April 5, 1937 — February 20, 2011

4/5/1937 – 2/20/2011
~The Kraemer Family would like to thank everyone for their support, cards, e-mails, phone calls, flowers, and prayers at this difficult time.  Ivan was a great husband, dad, grandfather, friend and will be dearly missed.~
Ivan was born April 5,1937 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Fred and Ellen Kraemer. He passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2011 in Blaine, WA. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon; three sons Scott(Diana), David(Jane), Jeff(Marty); and two grandsons, Jack and Ben. He spent his younger years in Edmonton and Calgary then moved to Medicine Hat where he graduated from Alexander Composite High School in 1955.  He was particularly fond of his high school years where he met many of his life long friends. After high school he went on to the University of Alberta where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering.  In 1961 he married Sharon Paterson in Redcliff, Alberta. After working and teaching in the engineering field, he went on to the University of Western Ontario, in London, where he completed an MBA in 1966.  It is here that he developed his interest in the real estate and development business.  A real estate opportunity saw the family move to Vancouver, B.C. in 1968.  He always enjoyed the west coast and all it had to offer.  He was a coach and a mentor to his young boys getting them involved in hockey, skiing and golf. The family spent a short time living in Kelowna B.C. where he enjoyed the lake, skiing, golf and all the amenities of the Okanagan. 1988, as empty nesters, he and Sharon moved to Seattle, WA, where they spent 22 years developing, land, homes and condos in the Seattle, Portland areas. His life was full of family, friends and colleagues with whom he enjoyed sports, food, jokes, travel and competitions. Some of his best times were spent at Whistler with family and friends. His favorite words of encouragement to all of us were; “keep busy, work hard, and have fun”. In lieu of flowers contributions to your favorite charity are greatly appreciated.  Share the memories at a Celebration of Ivan’s life to be held at Shaughnessy Golf  & Country Club in Vancouver, B.C. on April 2, 2011 from 2-4 pm.
***Please be mindful that Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club has policies for members and guests that prohibit all denim attire and the use of cell phones in the club house. Thank you. ***
