Dwight Brainard, age 89 passed away February 13, 2012 in Bellingham. He was born October 29, 1922 in Oklahoma City, OK to James and Madeline (Scott) Brainard. He married Daisy Jeanne Bond in 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK. During WWII Dwight was a US Navy aviation radioman aboard a PBY5A and flew all over the South Pacific. Following the war he earned a Bachelors degree at the University of Oklahoma and a Masters degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He went on to serve in the US Army as a psychiatric social worker for 21 years. After retirement Dwight and Daisy traveled around the country in their RV and researched family genealogy. After Daisy died in 2009, Dwight lived at the Leopold, where he enjoyed many activities and friends. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife Daisy in 2009, brother Ernest and his wife Jayne Brainard and sister-in-law Billie Jean Brainard. He is survived by his daughters Diane Brainard (husband Vic Hubbard) of Bellingham and Merilyn Allen of Ferndale, sons Paul (wife Sharon) Brainard of Lake Stevens and Jim (wife Michelle) Brainard of Petersburg, Alaska, 6 grandchildren Kristina, Kerina, Paul, Tyler, Meika and Bryn, great-granddaughter Kyra, brothers Mark Brainard and Frank (wife Margaret) Brainard, nieces Holly Jacobson, Thayer Porter and Sydney Brainard. A Celebration of life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 1 PM.
