Jack Toole lived a wonderful happy life for 97 years. Jack was born in Port Arthur, Canada. His parents, brother, and son Richard preceded him in death along with his beloved wife Margaret of 61 years. Survived by his children, Jacqueline (Charles), Maureen (Ed) and Susan (George), daughters-in-law Judy & Corlyn along with 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his much-loved sister-in-law Shirley who accompanied them on many adventures and her children.
Jack was a proud family man with a zest for life. Always willing and able to help others with a smile and his quiet demeanor, he liked to fish, play cards, and take grandchildren on outings – all on his own! He was a master carpenter and master mechanic; having built a beautiful cottage on a lake in Canada as well as furniture for the house when first arriving in California. He was a dedicated employee for Hunt-Wesson/Beatrice Foods for 20 years.
During World War II, Jack served in the Canadian Royal Airforce – being a golden glove boxer, his main job was building morale for the troops with boxing exhibitions. The great Joe Louis once awarded him a trophy. He became a proud U.S. citizen, having held dual citizenship, he and Margaret moved to Canada after retirement, then journeyed to WA. Having lost Margaret, he moved to Freedom Village in CA to be near family, there he made many friends both staff and residents alike.
We will miss and love him forever. Please toast with a rum and coke to Jack!
