Jackie Isakson went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015. She was born Sept. 14, 1938 in Bellingham to John W. and Willhelma W. (Ashburn) Chandler.
She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1956 and from WWU in 1960 with a teaching certificate. Her first teaching job was in Olympia where she met her future husband, Ray. They were married April 3, 1961 and spent 54 loving years together. After Ray was discharged from the Army they moved to Opheim, MT. They worked together on the farm until about 1970, when they moved to Ferndale and later to Bellingham.
Jackie was very social and belonged to sewing clubs… she made beautiful quilts and amazing dolls. She enjoyed monthly meetings at Mykonos with the birthday club. She was also a member of the Mt. Baker Rock and Gem Club and the American Legion Post 7 Auxiliary for many years. Jackie had a special place in her heart for all the dogs she nurtured and spoiled- they are probably all wagging their tales in anticipation of her arrival!
The family would like to thank the nursing and rehab staff at Shuksan Healthcare for the wonderful care she received there. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law Marvin and Alvin.
She is survived by her loving husband Ray, children, Jacklyn Joyce (Alan), Daniel Ray (Julie) and Douglas Alan (Yvonne), three handsome grandsons, Michael, Brian and QuVonte, her sister Elaine and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at American Legion Post 7, 1688 W. Bakerview Rd. in Bellingham at 11 AM on Thursday, September 10. Reception following.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 7 Auxiliary.
