James “Jas” F. Bolster
Real Estate Visionary
James F. Bolster, age 86 of Bellingham, passed away July 19, 2010. He was born April 3, 1924, to James R. and Ayreness (Roeder) Bolster. Jim was born and raised in “The Roeder Home.” His great-grandfather was Henry Roeder. Jim attended Campus school and Bellingham High school and then served in the U.S. Navy as a Pilot. Jim’s greatest passions were farming on Sinclair Island, boating, fishing, flying, and shooting cannons. Over the years he formed his own real estate company specializing in waterfront properties. He also created the first “Time-Share” project in Hawaii, owned and operated restaurants, was a director for Bellingham National Bank and started the first Fixed Based/ Flight School in Bellingham. Jim enjoyed remodeling boats and cruising through the inside passage with his friends and family. He toured the world on many ships. He was a true entrepreneur, and had a unique way of combining business, travel, family and friends. Jim worked everyday he could and made everyone around him proud to be a part of his many unique projects. Jim was preceded in death by his sisters Phoebe, Annabel, Rosemary, and former wife, Kathleen Ashe Bolster. He is survived by his wife Gertrude Bolster, sons J. Frederick Bolster, Daniel R. Bolster, Gary E. and Jan Bolster, daughter Rosemary Bolster and husband Larry McCarter; step-daughter Lana McGinnis, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
