Janice Lee (Brown) Techter passed away suddenly at home on November 3, 2023 at the age of 73.
Jan was born May 1, 1950 to Elmer and Lois Brown and grew up in Barrington, IL. She worked as a graphic artist in Chicago, IL and Bellingham, WA with positions at JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), Discovery International, The Bellingham Herald, Business Pulse, and Mindport. She always had a strong design sense, loved thrifting, gardening, and her dogs. Her spare time was spent loving her grandkids and in her home studio doing crafts and artwork. Equally important to Jan was a strong sense of criminal justice and she passionately supported local police work and wanted us all to be safe.
Jan’s daughter Jamie and her son Brian predeceased her. She is survived by her son Chris (Jackie), her grandchildren Hayden, Cari, Ethan, and Emma; her brother Tom (Jane), sister Ellen, and brother Jim. Her dogs were a comfort for Jan throughout her life, especially Aashee, Mieto, and little Minnie who loved her so much up to the time of her passing.
The family requests in lieu of flowers to make donations in Jan’s name to Whatcom Humane Society (
https://www.whatcomhumane.org/donate/
). There will be no services for Jan, but prayers are always welcome. She would also ask that people continue the search for the elusive Sasquatch.
