Jean B. Smith

Jean B. Smith passed away on January 15, 2018. Jean was born on December 15, 1925 in Seaside, OR to Earl and Bernice (McCoy) Holmes. Immediately following high school graduation, Jean joined the war effort working for Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley. Upon his return from the war as a Navy veteran, Jean married her husband Louie and they were married for over 60 years. Together they had two sons, Gary and Jim. As a family, they enjoyed boating and spent a lot of time on the water. Jean was an avid gardener (both indoor and outdoor) and an excellent seamstress.
She was predeceased by her husband Louie in 2012, her parents Earl and Bernice, her brother Wesley Holmes, grandson Daniel Smith and her grandson-in-law Paul Schroeder. Jean is survived by her sons Gary (Pam) Smith and Jim (Marye Pat) Smith, grandchildren Christy Schroeder, Chelsea Dacres-Andrews and Nathan (Jennie) Smith and one great-granddaughter Aisling Dacres-Andrews as well as other extended relatives. A graveside service will be held for Jean on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1pm at Bayview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bellingham Food Bank.
