Born July 22, 1920 to James and Lura Stockton; died July 15, 2014. Great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, cousin. Jean graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938, was a member of Theta Rho, and was still friends with her junior high chums after 80 years. She married Kenny Baughn on July 10, 1943 and then worked in Kentucky while Kenny was in the Army. After the war they moved to Tacoma, where she worked in the school lunchroom after her kids grew up. She was an active member of Bethany UMC, where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees, and was a volunteer in the schools and community. She loved to travel with Kenny and enjoyed going on adventures, especially to the coast so she could stick her feet in the sand. Mom didn’t know any strangers; they were just friends she hadn’t met yet. Her house and her table were open to all. Her family was the most important thing to her. We all knew we could drop in anytime and stay as long as we wanted. Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenny; their son, Richard; her sister-in-law, Jessie; and her daughter-in-law, Vi. She leaves her brother, Dave (Mary); cousins Alice and Betty; children Steve, Thom (Jan), and Jude; nieces Sue (Kevin) and Mary (Troy); nephew Jim; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six great-nieces and one great-nephew as well as many friends and extended family. Services will be held August 8, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Westford Funeral Home, 1301 Broadway, Bellingham.
