JoAnn Fields Breznay died December 25, 2021 in Bellingham, WA. She was 78 years old. JoAnn was born August 20, 1943 in Seattle, WA to Jean Krueger Fields and Richard Woodward Fields. She was a dark haired doe-eyed cherub-like beauty. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, James Peter Breznay and her parents, Jean Krueger Fields and Richard Woodward Fields. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pongracz Lamb (Rod Lamb) and granddaughter, Lili JoAnn Breznay Pongracz-Bartha, her daughter Andrea Breznay Harrell (Andrew Jackson Harrell IV), her brother Thomas M. Fields (Jennifer Fields), sister Jane Schultz (Wayne Schultz), sister in-law Jane Sykes, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins whom she loved so dearly.
JoAnn grew up in Idaho and Montana and especially loved her family’s home on Flathead Lake. She finished high school in Montana and then graduated from St. Patrick School of Nursing in Missoula, Montana in 1966. She worked at several large hospitals in the Seattle area and eventually found her niche in Labor and Delivery, helping new mothers welcome their babies. She married Jim in 1968 in Seattle, WA and they raised their family in Seattle and Issaquah, WA. She had made Bellingham, WA her home so she could be closer to her daughter, brother, and their families.
JoAnn had an infectious laugh and gave incredible bear hugs, and she adored children, opening her home to many kids and families throughout her life. She even ran a childcare business for several years. JoAnn loved music, camping, “The Lake” on the Olympic peninsula, Seahawks games, and was an avid reader. She adored her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
