Stan Ford, age 82, passed away peacefully with his family holding him tightly on September 18, 2012 in Bellingham. Stan bravely fought his battle with heart disease and dementia for many years. He was born June 15, 1930 in Bellingham to Clem and Garnet (Freese) Ford. Stan married Sylvia Este on May 16, 1949 in Ephrata, WA. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Stan worked for Whatcom County in maintenance for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. John unconditionally loved his family. He enjoyed listening to music, had a great sense of humor and was always cracking a joke. Stan was preceded in death by sister Yvonne Sheline. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia, sons Mike, Mark, Dennis and Darren, adopted daughter Polly Medina, grandchildren Sheresha (husband Skyler) Smith and their son Landon, Loreena Ford and Derek (wife Trish) Ford, sister Pat Mills, brother Clem Ford, and many loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank all of Stan’s caregivers at Eagle Ridge Assisted Living, St. Joseph Hospital and Whatcom Hospice. A very special thank you to the staff at Bellingham Healthcare for all of their compassion during Stan’s final days. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 25th from 3-5 PM. A Celebration of Stan’s life with military honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 26 followed by a potluck reception across the street at Westford’s Broadway Hall.
