Reception: Bellingham Golf & Country Club, following the service.
Josephine McNeill, lifetime resident of Bellingham, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the age of 98 at Mt. Baker Care Center from complications of a broken hip. Jo was born in Bellingham on September 13, 1912 to Joe and Zoë Kindall. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Whitman College in 1934, where she was a member and President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college, Jo returned to Bellingham and began a job as a social worker before she married her husband of 68 years, Al McNeill, on September 25th, 1936. They had two children, Bill and Barbara. Jo remained an active member of the Bellingham community as a member of PEO, Monday Club, and as a docent at the Whatcom Museum. She was also a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served on the Chancel Guild for many years.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Mike Omalev, son Bill McNeill, husband Al McNeill, and sister Jane Beamish. Jo is survived by her daughter Barb Omalev and granddaughter Michelle Omalev.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, September 30th at 11:30 AM, followed by a reception at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
