Joy Lorraine Elerding Norris

Joy Loraine Elerding Norris went to Heaven on January 15, 2020. She lived most of her 93 years in Whatcom County. She was the widow of James Norris, former Ferndale school district superintendent.
Joy encouraged all her children to be involved in music, and spent many hours listening to us practice and attending our musical performances. During her life she was involved in Campfire Girls, Eastern Star, Music Teachers Association, teaching Sunday school and music lessons, a Bible Study Fellowship, attending Whatcom Symphony concerts, and Hilltoppers. She travelled in the British Isles and Paris and took many trips through the U.S. to see the country and visit family members with her husband Jim. She enjoyed being involved in the lives of her family spending many summers at the ocean with them. She kept in contact with cousins, nieces and nephews and girlfriends from her Sunnyland school days. Family and friends were important in Joy’s life. She is survived by her daughter Claudia English and her sons Larry, Ira John, Ryan-Michael, and Steven. Son Gary, wife Dariel, Jimmy (deceased) his daughter Ella. Daughter Becky, husband Brian Andrews, their sons James and Issac. Son Jeffrey and his children Zoe, Jefferson, Abigail, and Samuel. Sons Christian, Andrew, daughters Katherine and Sarah, husband Eric and their daughter Hazel Joy. Daughter Pamela, husband Ross Taylor, son Renwick, wife Beth, son Matthew, wife Courtney their children Jameson and Millicent Joy. Sons John Mark and Luke. And bringing up the rear daughter Susan aka Susie, and her two adorable kitties, that spent many hours of the day on mom’s lap Fergus and Finnie-Tiger. Joy has left a big hole in our family and she will be missed by us all. But we have many memories of her love and caring that will remain with us as we celebrate her life.
