Joyce J. Tiplin, age 86 of Bellingham, passed away February 7, 2011 in Federal Way.  She was born December 6, 1924 in Bellingham to Eula & Julia (Craig) Byrd.  Joyce married Robert Tiplin on August 15, 1943 in Bellingham. Together they owned and operated the Valley Inn/Valley Haus in Everson and later the Southsider restaurant in Fairhaven. She was a faithful and active of member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the King.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Tiplin.  She is survived by her son Robert (Deanna) Tiplin, Jr. of Bellevue; daughter, Juliana (William) Sleeth of Gig Harbor; son Mark (Song Hui) Tiplin of Kerman, CA.  She loved and was greatly loved by her six grandchildren: Derek (Michelle), Tiffany (Mark), Jodi (Jason), Tara (Paul), Mark Jr., Robert III, and Lisa; and six great-grandchildren Dominic, Sidney, Wynter, Nathan, Jenae, and Seth.  She is also survived by her sister Edna Eckrem of Mukilteo, WA plus many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Daughters of the King Memorial Fund, 2117 Walnut Street, Bellingham, 98225.
Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10 from 3-5 PM.  A Burial Eucharist will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, February 11 at 11 AM followed by a reception in the Great Hall.  Burial will follow at Greenacres Cemetery.
