Kamuela Inocencio Sarte Garo

January 15, 2021 — May 26, 2021

Kamuela Inocencio Sarte Garo was born January 15, 2021 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham, WA with his parents Glenn and Shar Garo and a small team of doctors and nurses. He weighed 7 lbs. and 5.6 ounces and was 20 inches long. A few days after his birth he was jaundiced and had to go back to the hospital to go under the lights and stayed there with his mom. This health scare made her realize how precious his life was and she committed to enjoying every second of it. Kamuela was named after his great-grandfather, Samuel Higginson, with the name Kamuela meaning “he who hears God”. His middle name Inocencio is in remembrance of his great-grandfather Inocencio Garo, meaning “innocent”. He carries the family names of his mother, Sarte, and of his father, Garo.
Kamuela’s love languages of quality time and physical touch were becoming evident throughout his life. He loved to be held and doted on by his big sisters, Isabella Prince, Kahealani Garo, and Mahealani Garo. Whenever he used his little baby walker he would push forward straight towards his loving mama. Kamuela loved to swing and would be content listening to music and watching his sisters play or eating at the table nearby. He loved to dance in his Daddy’s arms and beamed when his dad sang to him, especially the songs composed for him using his name. He regularly hung out with Isabella on the bed in her room as she took online classes. He was a strong baby that loved to stand up on your lap and he always had a twinkle in his eye much like his Grandma Diana Munsen who regularly cared for him. He was extremely expressive with his facial gestures and laughed uncontrollably when receiving the crazy kisses. Kamuela would light up when you made eye contact with him and was very generous with his smiles. He loved to hold hands, pat on arms and pull hair. One of his favorite past times was bathing in his shower chair. His parents would cover him with a small hand towel to help with the splashing and we would smile throughout being bathed. Kamuela’s parents agreed he most looked like his dad, although his mom could see a resemblance to her younger brother Ryan Munsen that linked the uncle and nephew together. Kamuela was surrounded by those that loved him.
Kamuela died May 26, 2021. He was four months and 11 days old. He is a celebrated son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend to many adoring family members and friends. We praise the Lord God almighty for his life and the precious gift that he will eternally be here and in heaven.
Kamuela is resting in the hands of God and joins his grandparents Venus Aglugub Garo, Jaime Sarte, Larry Munsen, and great-grandparents, Inocencio and Clariza Garo, Elisa and Mena Sarte, Denaige and Samuel Higginson, and special grandparents Gran and Pop, Anabel and Raymond Breakey, and Grandpa Sam Higginson.
Kamuela is survived by his parents Dr. Glenn and Shar Garo, sisters Isabella Grace Prince, Kahealani Hokuloa Garo, and Mahealani Hokulea Garo, grandparents Loreto and Zenie Garo, Diana Munsen, and chosen grandparents Emelie and Sherwin Prows, Anselmo and Rose Mary Villanueva, as well as great-grandmothers Fe Valdivia and Louise Higginson. Kamuela had his most Facebook likes from Apo Florence and Apo Phil.
His family thanks his nannies Kameron Reitan and Gillian Naranjo for their amazing aloha and support throughout his life.
In honor of Kamuela’s life the family asks you to hug your loved ones and answer the call when God speaks to you.
