Karen Pantoleon, aged 69, passed away peacefully at her Ferndale home with her family by her side on October 6, 2023.
Born on July 30, 1954 in England to James and Patricia Cowmeadow, Karen grew up with her mum and siblings in Cambridge. She graduated from Impington Village College and held various jobs before immigrating to the US in 1980.
Karen was full of light and love and had a beauty from within that shined through. She was a woman with a stubborn streak, a clever mind, and a fierce loyalty. She was the core and the glue that binds us together, not only for her family, but for most people she met. Karen was open-minded and had a free spirit. She had an abundance of wisdom shared through her stories of the past, wide-ranging beliefs, and giving “get it together” advice. Known for her nurturing heart, she was Momma to all, young and old and everyone in between. The love she had with her husband knew no bounds, obstacles too big, or valleys too low. They were best friends who grew together no matter the circumstance. Death is the end of life, but not love. She met everyone with a big beautiful smile, one of her famous hugs, and usually a laugh. She comforted and loved all those around her, making all feel special and a part of her family. Now our beautiful mom gets to do what she does best - love, hold, and reunite with our baby Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beautiful daughter, Lily Pantoleon. Her memory lives on in her husband, Dimitrios “Jimmy” Pantoleon; her children, Simon Tomlin (Heather), Katie Aarstol (Ryan), Alex Pantoleon (Kelsey), and Kalliopi Pantoleon; her 13 grandchildren; siblings, William Cowmeadow (Dawne) and Pamela Holderman (Tim); and many extended family members and friends.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 19th at 12:30pm at St Sophia Greek Orthodox Church followed by a graveside service at Greenacres Memorial Park. All are welcome to a celebration that will be held at Cedar’s in Ferndale from 2:30-5:30pm.
