Ken Dawson, age 93, passed away peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House on Friday, September 30, 2016.
He was born February 14, 1923 in Stanwood, WA to Addie and Logan Dawson. Ken graduated from East Stanwood High School and married Anna Eliason in 1941. As a young man he worked on the Alaska Highway construction, building roads in Ketchikan. He also spent his early years logging in the Northwest. Later Ken had his own excavating and paving business. Ken and Anna enjoyed fresh and saltwater fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling and entertaining visitors in their home. They were members of the Whatcom County Chapter of the Washington Farm Forestry Association, the Elks Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his gregarious personality and his open heart.
Ken was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Anna, sisters LaRue and Vivian, and brothers Clint and Stanley. He is survived by sons Rich Dawson (wife Marlene) and James Dawson, grandchildren Lance (wife Wendee) and their son Tanner, Jed (wife Krishelle) and their daughters Kenzie and Kaydee, and Brent (wife Tina) and their daughter Jenna and son Tyler, and many loving relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation.
A Service of Remembrance for Ken will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Sunday, October 16th at 1 PM. Reception following across the street at Westford’s Broadway Hall.
