Born in Fort Rucker, Alabama to Peter and Gerry (Barnwell) Harris, Ken passed away in Bellingham, WA at the way too young age of 58. Ken served as a boatswain’s mate in the US Coast Guard and then became a carpenter, welder, machinist, general contractor and owner of a home improvement business. He received an Associate’s Degree in Electro Mechanical Technology from Bellingham Technical College in 2011 and became a licensed home inspector in 2019.
After surviving Hurricane Katrina, Ken relocated to Bellingham. His love of the water was innate, whether he was on a blow-up raft, shrimp boat, or a Coast Guard cutter. He was a brave captain and proud owner of a 1977 Tollycraft, which he rebuilt and brought to new life. He was happiest when out in nature, on the water, or in the forest, and loved camping, fishing and exploring new places. He was a hard worker with an infectious smile and loved working with his hands and helping people. His final contribution was to bring sight to two people.
In addition to his parents and brother Robert Harris, he is survived by his wife, Paula Harris; daughter, Kristi Lee Harris; and grandsons, Makai and Kamden. Ken will be sorely missed and we will always carry his memory in our hearts.
