Larry Pensiero, age 87, passed away on January 6, 2013 in Bellingham. He was born June 22, 1925 in Bridgeport, CTto Giuseppe and Clementina (Vento) Pensiero. He was known as “Pop” to many and true to his Italian heritage, family was very important to him.  As a graduate electrical engineer, Larry spent much of his career as a sales engineer for Bell and Howell Inc., and CEC (Consolidated Electrodynamics). Prior to that, he spent his Navy years during WWII on a Destroyer Escort chasing enemy submarines. Pop lived his life to the fullest enjoying Italian food, barrels of red wine, and jazz music, even within two weeks of his passing. He is our inspiration.

He is survived by six step-children, Joan (Michael) Hirsch and their children David, Jeanne and Jana, Clare Sommers and her children Kim and Greg, Jim (Jenny) Pensiero and their daughters Lindsay and Kayce, Sharon (Steve) Raible, Greg (Norma) Michel and their children Ceridan and Celisa, Chris (Diane) Michel and their children Alyssa and Riley, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his brother Ralph (Judy) Pensiero and their children Jeri and John, brother-in-law Guido Marseglia, and his son Michael.  Memorials may be made to KPLU, the Seattle NPR Jazz Station or KCTS 9, and/or the Seattle PBS Station. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 2 PM on Friday, February 8th. A reception will follow at the church.
