Lore Melnick, age 97, passed away on May 29, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1926 in Rosenberg, Germany.
She met Marvin Melnick when he was stationed in Germany while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They moved to New York and were married. They remained together until Marvin’s passing in 1983. Lore later moved to Washington to be with her sons, Greg and Scott.
Lore was a school bus driver for over 20 years, and she was the wildest driver in the bunch! Lore loved playing cards, Scrabble, gardening, going to the casino, traveling, and camping. She will always be remembered for her indomitable free spirit. She had an incredibly strong love of life and almost always a positive outlook. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Lore was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Melnick. She is survived by her four children: Peter (Laurie), Elaine, Greg, and Scott, grandchildren Harley, Justin, and Rachel, one great-grandson, and many good friends.
She will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island, New York.
