Loren Wardrop, age 86 of Bellingham passed away March 20, 2012. He was born September 1, 1925 in Bellingham to John and Katherine Wardrop. Loren loved all sports and participated in football, basketball, baseball and boxing while in high school and college. While serving in the U.S. Navy for 2 years during WWII, Loren was involved in conflict in both Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Loren fished commercially in Alaska for over 51 years. He loved to golf and was proud to have been a marshal at the Bob Hope Classic in California for 39 years. He was preceded in death by wives Marilyn and Millie, brothers Stuart and Clayton, and infant brother Bruce. He is survived by daughters Julie Marchiori and Janie Wardrop (Marv McCain), grandchildren Jeremy (Beckie), Amanda, Jessica (Phill), Michael and Evan, great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Evan, Lila and Emery, sister Jan Williams, and many loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who helped Loren in his fight with cancer and helped during his last days. A Celebration of Loren’s life will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, March 25th at the Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Point, 2600 South Harbor Loop in Bellingham.
