Lori Polevoi

May 6, 1959 — May 9, 2018

Lori Polevoi, age 62, passed away on May 9th after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Lori was born on May 6, 1956 in Eureka, California and later raised in San Jose, California. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1974, where she was especially proud of her participation in Model United Nations. She went on to attend San Jose State University, where she graduated in 1978 with a degree in journalism. Her early career was mostly in public relations, including The John Tracey Clinic and Centinela Hospital in Los Angeles. Once relocating back to the Bay Area, Lori worked for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California.
In 2001, Lori and her children moved to Bellingham, Washington. She touched many lives with her work for Interfaith Coalition, where she held the position of Program and Development Director for over 10 years. She was also a Reiki Master who loved transmitting healing energy to her clients, as well as a Certified Horticultural Therapist.
Lori had a vast amount of interests that she was passionate about; including music, photography, gardening, and a love of nature. She was an avid sports fan, who rooted for the Seattle Mariners and Washington State Cougars.
Lori is survived by her daughter Valerie (Josh) Davis, her son Aaron Polevoi, her partner Krista Hunter, her mother Diana Hayes, her sister Ronda Hayes, and granddaughters Peyton and Heidi Davis. She is preceded in death by her father, Kerry Hayes and brother, Michael Hayes.
A celebration of life will be held at the Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Park on Tuesday, May 29th from 6pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Lori’s honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
