Louis Francis "Lou" Michel

Louis Francis “Lou” Michel, age 91, passed away at Hospice House Sunday, October 1st, 2023, in Bellingham, WA. He was born June 11, 1932, in Sandusky, OH to Dorothea and Ludwig Michel.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Edward, Thomas, and Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane Carol Michel, daughters Kate Smith, Diane Kicza (Tommy Johnson), Eileen Brady (Michael), and son Kevin Michel (Carrie). Lou is also survived by Diane’s children, Cari Lynn Hillinger (Jake) and Jeff Orr (Sue Peterson). Lou was blessed to have eight grandchildren.
A Celebration of Lou’s Life will be held Thursday, November 9th at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas Street, Bellingham. Fellowship time and a light lunch will be served at the church’s Grace Center following the service. The celebration of the life will be streamed at www.trinitybellingham.org .
Donations in Lou’s honor can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas Street, Bellingham, WA 98225, The Lou Michel Architecture Scholarship, or The Lou Michel Architecture Professorship at the University of Kansas.
