Lucinda Rogers

August 2, 1951 — April 3, 2014

Lucinda Rogers was born on August 2, 1951 in Long Beach, CA and died on April 3, 2014 in Bellingham, WA of natural causes. Lucinda was born to Carl Wm. “Bill” Coleman and Lola Mae “Dolly” Coleman, a tiny, premature little doll of a baby girl. Growing up in Southern California, Lucinda was a true California girl. Bright, beautiful blond hair to her waist, sparkling green eyes, she was the youngest of three and adored by her family. She loved the sunshine and the beach, rode in English riding events, loved horses, dogs, cats, camping, fishing, swimming and anything else to do with the outdoors. She was “Cindy” to her family. Lucinda was fiercely independent even as a little child, treating her worried mother and beaming father to a display riding a two-wheeler at 3 years of age (no training wheels for her). There wasn’t a tree she couldn’t climb or a monkey bar she couldn’t conquer. In 1970, Lucinda moved with her parents and young husband, Rick Cowan, to Bellingham. She loved learning to ski, loved the mountains, the lakes and all of the natural beauty the Northwest had to offer. She had a very successful working career, managing the AAA of Washington office in Bellingham and eventually as manager of a regional portion of the state. Tennis became a passion and she was a member of the Bellingham Tennis Club nearly from its inception except for a 6 year period when she lived in Palm Desert, CA. In 2000 Lucinda moved to Palm Desert where she managed the tennis department of The Lakes Country Club. Returning to Bellingham in 2006 she resumed her membership at the Bellingham Tennis Club where she enjoyed the friendship of so many wonderful people. Lucinda is survived by her so adored son Andrew Rogers, sister Sharon Kesslau, brother Bill Coleman, nephews Tony Kesslau (Monica Trott) and Greg Kesslau (Kim Sheller), her beloved dogs Ivy and Dawson, former husbands Rick Cowan and Fred Rogers, uncle Calvin Hummer, special cousins, Michael Rose and Patrick Rose, and many loving family members and friends. Her mother, Dolly Coleman, survived her by only a few days, not knowing she had lost her daughter. Lucinda was preceded in death by her father, Bill Coleman. Lucinda’s premature passing will be mourned for all time, by all who loved her. If desired, a contribution can be made in her name to the Whatcom Humane Society or any other animal rescue organization. A private family memorial will be planned at a later date.
