Lucy Quillen, age 100, passed away November 9, 2013 in Bellingham. She was born October 17, 1913 in Nooksack, WA to Lowell and Evelyn Faye (Olin) Duling. She married Alvin Clay Quillen on October 5, 1935 and they made their home in Deming, WA and later in Glacier, WA. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her parents, Lowell and Faye Duling, brothers Carl “Bus” Duling and Lawrence “Bill” Duling. Lucy is survived by sister Lola Faye (Bud) Barwell, son Jack Quillen (Phyllis), grandchildren, Tim (Tamara) Quillen, Jeff (Susie) Quillen and Terri LaLone, 8 great-grandchildren, 8 great- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece Gloria Osborne who Lucy said many times was more a daughter than a niece and who was always there for her. Lucy will be missed by all of her family and her many friends. Special thanks to Linda Fleming who was such a help to Lucy and to the family for many years. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Francis for taking such good care of her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whatcom Hospice or St. Francis of Bellingham. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 14th. A Celebration of Lucy’s life will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 11 AM on Saturday, November 16th.
