Lylias Hendrickson, age 93 of Bellingham passed away April 4, 2011. She was born July 26, 1917 in Litchfield, MN, to Emil and Hannah (Olson) Mortenson. Lylias served our country in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during WWII. Then after completing her nurses training she re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. It was at McChord AFB that she met Grant Hendrickson; they were married on July 1, 1952. She worked for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and area nursing homes including Alderwood Park. Lylias enjoyed baking and crafts. She was compassionate and caring and would often give her goodies to others. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant, son Reed, brothers Art and Karl, and sisters Charlotte and Ruth. She is survived by daughter Jana (husband Donis) Jeffs, daughter Rae Ann (husband David) Westman, granddaughter Amy Westman and her children Hannah, Justus and Summer, granddaughter Leanne Westman and her children Tyler and Lyla, granddaughter Kristin (husband Tyler) Maricich, sister Marion Peters and sister-in-law Charlotte Mortenson. A reception Celebrating Lylias’s life will be held at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway, on Tuesday, April 19th at 2 PM.
