Marcella “Ann” Gossage of Bellingham, WA passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in Bellevue, WA surrounded by her family, she was 86.
Ann was born to Jay Moore and Edith Walker on September 12, 1936 in Slaton, TX, and she lost her mother shortly after her birth. Her father remarried Una Moore and the family moved from Lubbock, TX to Chilliwack, BC Canada in 1954. Ann graduated from Chilliwack High School and soon after moved to Bellingham, WA to attend Western Washington University.
While in school, Ann met Glen Gossage from a mutual friend and they shortly began their courtship, they were wed on March 14, 1959 in Bellingham. After graduating WWU, she taught at Bellingham High School for ten years. Being the entrepreneur at heart, she opened a retail boutique called Town and Country Apparel which won her the title of Business Woman of the Year in 1988. She ran the business for 25 successful years and had many loyal clients and employees that became lifelong friends.
Still having an appetite for business, she converted the family’s summer home on Lummi Island to “Loganita, a Villa by the Sea”, Bed and Breakfast. It had such a revered reputation that it attracted several people from around the world and many repeat clients, who also became close to Ann.
Shortly after Glen’s death, she sold the beloved B&B and became a Stephen’s Minister in 1995 where she spent time helping others and formed new friendships along the way.
Ann loved to garden and had a natural green thumb, she especially loved growing and cultivating roses. Ann also appreciated and supported the Arts, whether in a museum or on stage. She especially loved the opera and often went to Seattle or Vancouver BC to savor performances. Ann was a generous soul who touched many lives and will be missed.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, and her adopted Italian brother Carlo Ciammaichella.
Ann is survived by her two sons Jay Gossage (Shari) of Mesa, AZ, and Matthew Gossage (Edna) of Bellevue, WA, daughter Gina Gossage of Beaverton, OR, brother Erin Moore (Sharon) of Alexandria, VA., sister-in-law Carla Ciammaichella, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Ann “Nana” loved her grandchildren, CJ (Jacquie), Ciera, Mia, Chance, Olivia, and her two great-grandchildren Huxley and Norah.
