Margaret Bergquist, age 90, of Bellingham passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. Margaret was born to Lloyd and Annis (Scotton) Hathaway in Brush Prairie, WA on October 10, 1925.
After graduating high school, Margaret earned a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics at WA State College (now WSU). She traveled the world before she married Robert Bergquist in 1955. Margaret and Bob lived 25 years in Edmonds, WA, where they raised their two children, Eric and Krista. They spent many wonderful weekends and summers at their Vashon Island cabin. After Bob retired they enjoyed traveling and cruising around the world. In January 2000 they moved to Bellingham to be near their children and grandchildren. Margaret was a member of Garden Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob Bergquist; son Eric (Diane) Bergquist; daughter Krista (Daryl) Johnson; grandchildren Brian, Brittany (Caleb), Maria, Rebecca, Alisha, Stephanie, Anneli, and Noah; great-grandchildren Evelyn and William, sister-in-law Thelma Hathaway, nieces Jeanne (Milt) Franke, Susan (Nancy) Hathaway and Ann Hathaway, nephews David (Sammie), Mike (Elena), Bill (Jeanette), Dale and Alan Hathaway and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Lee, George “Skip”, and Carl Hathaway.
