Margaret Mary Duffy

February 15, 1933 — January 26, 2025

Bellingham

Margaret Mary Duffy, a prayerful servant, met her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2025.

Born February 15, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN, to parents James and Kathy Duffy at their family home, Margaret attended Saint Mary Catholic Church and school. After graduation, she entered the Convent where she spent almost two years. Entering the public sector, she worked for Northwest Airlines. Quickly recognizing her talents, her promotions soared – leading to her developing the first automated reservations system. Her job took her all over the world where she made many lasting friendships, charming all she met with her Irish wit.

Margaret met Louise when she was in high school and their friendship was lifelong. They moved to Bellingham together and shared a home on Lake Whatcom and enjoyed a very active life, which included traveling over 22,000 miles in their motorhome throughout the U.S. and Canada with a ladies camping group. Margaret had a special love for dogs, from Greyhounds to her last love, Sadie Mae, a Chihuahua. She also enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears.

She devoted her life and focus to serving the Lord and was a devoted and active member of the Liturgical Ministry at Church of the Assumption, working as both Sacristan and with the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She diligently fulfilled her roles with great care and reverence. She supported Assumption School, providing scholarships for children, and helped with the Hope House. Her unwavering commitment and countless contributions will leave a lasting impact on her community.

Margaret will be missed for her Irish wit, stories about her cars, from her first red sports convertible to her last red Honda, sharing “wine time”, and prayer time each evening.

Angels surround you dear friend. May her soul find eternal rest in the gentle arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, and may we take comfort in the promise of His resurrection.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Friday, Feb. 7 at Church of the Assumption with committal following at Bayview Cemetery.

GOD BLESS.
