Margie Walker, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6th at Hospice House in Bellingham. She was born November 25, 1929 in Bellingham to Michael and Fae Szymanski. Margie graduated from Bellingham High School in 1947. She married Jim Walker on June 10, 1950 in Bellingham. They lived in Mount Vernon, WA for over 30 years before retiring to Bellingham. Margie was a creative spirit and a talented jewelry maker. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She enjoyed attending jazz festivals with her husband Jim. Margie and Jim traveled throughout the country in their motorhome and particularly liked the Oregon Coast. She was fascinated with the Orient and traveled to Hong Kong, Okinawa, Japan, Taiwan and China. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gordon Szymanski. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim Walker, daughter Karen Walker of Camano Island, son Jack Walker of Lopez Island, grandchildren Kaylin and Jake Walker and many loving relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice House. A Celebration of Margie’s life will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 2 PM on Sunday, December 16th. A reception will follow.
