Margot A. Rowe, age 97, died peacefully in the care of Whatcom Hospice and Orchard Park Assisted Living on April 5, 2022. She was born March 27, 1925 in Coeur d’Alene, ID to Martin and Rosetta Miller. She married Earle Rowe on March 21, 1947 in Bellingham. Margot was a caring, devoted mother who embraced her extended family of nieces and nephews. As a young woman she enjoyed glee club and was active in many events at Bellingham High School. Before marriage she worked at Wahls and assisted Dr Longwood, a local dentist. She was a self-taught writer and, later in life, created many young adult manuscripts, taught creative writing at Bellingham Vocational College and headed Whatcom Writers group. Through writing she met Barbra Hancock and worked with her at Media Arts as a framer and at Rathman’s shoe store. Margot had a lifelong interest in community and enjoyed being a poll worker for many years. She loved cats, wild animals, and nature. Margot enjoyed people and was a keen observer of life. She was a lifelong learner who loved fun and was always up for a laugh. Margot was preceded in death by her husband Earle Rowe, and her three sisters, Janice, Jean and June. She is survived by her daughter Sarel Rowe and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and special caregivers.
