Mark Alan Todahl

July 29, 1964 — October 19, 2018

Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Mark Alan Todahl, went to heaven on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born on July 29, 1964 to Harlan and Vera Todahl. Mark graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and earned a degree in Seattle in graphic arts. Mark had a full life and successful career until he was diagnosed with kidney disease in his twenties with a subsequent transplant. Mark had many struggles through the years but maintained a positive attitude and a love for life. When he was able, Mark enjoyed playing pool with friends, going to movies and cheering on the Mariners, Seahawks and the Huskies. Mark was limited in what he could do but loved to cook and bake cookies when able. Mark was always asking for some kind of comfort food because he needed that in his life. He loved being outdoors and shared his love of dahlias with his Dad and Mom, and in honor of his Dad, Mark, his sister Teresa, and a group of hardworking friends helped Mark grow a beautiful garden and also many dahlias with a memory garden honoring his Dad in the corner. The garden flourished and they were able to share produce again with family and friends and also donating many pounds to the Food Bank. Mark loved being around people. He loved his family, especially his girlfriend, Sherryl. He was always friendly and enjoyed meeting people on his many bus rides, but especially loved talking on the phone. Mark had a good sense of humor and we will miss him, especially that big cheerful greeting that you always got when he saw you.
Mark is survived by his mother Vera; sisters Diane (Bill) VanDiest and Teresa Erickson, brother Jeff (Gwyn) Todahl, nephews and nieces Ryan (Megan) VanDiest, Kellie (Lawrence) VanDiest, Stacie VanDiest, Sam Todahl, Drew Todahl, Bennett DeLong and many loving relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to Nooksack Valley Food Bank, (360) 966-4833; Address: 204 N. Washington St. Everson, WA 98247 or the Mt. Baker Kidney Center.
A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham on Tuesday, October 23rd at 11 AM. Reception following.
