07/30/1919 – 03/31/2012
Mary “Sabette” Plummer, age 92, born in Prospect Park, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her
loving family in Bellingham, WA on March 31, 2012. Sabette and Roy Plummer were married in 1938. At the end of World War II they settled in El Cajon, CA, where they raised their three children, Jim, Francine and Catherine. They resided in the house built by Roy until his death in 1995. Her family was of paramount importance; she was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. Mom loved playing cards and enjoyed weekly bridge and pinochle games with dear friends. She and Roy were avid travelers and traveled extensively around the world (unescorted), including hot air ballooning over the vineyards of Southern France and the African Savannah, river rafting in New Zealand, and hiking in Nepal. They also enjoyed camping and exploring Alaska (prior to statehood), the Yukon, and Baja Mexico. Mom and Dad loved spending time at their cabin in Mammoth, CA, skiing, hiking and fishing. After Roy passed away Sabette relocated to Bellingham, WA, where she appreciated the rain and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Mom is survived by her loving family, including 3 children and their spouses, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Sabette’s family extend their thanks to the staff at Mt. Baker Care Center for their loving care during her recent illness.
