Mary Frances Poppe, longtime Bellingham resident, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 8, 2011. She was born October 27, 1913 in Sheridan, WY to Paul and Mary Chudek. She married Paul Poppe on August 12, 1939 in Bellingham. She was an avid fan of men’s PGA golf. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Paul, son Bob, and brothers Al and Paul Chudek. She is survived by her son Paul (Lana), daughters Jeannette “Chicki” (Mike) Brennan and Joanne (David) Frazier, grandchildren Paul, Patrick, Bert, Jennifer and Michael Paul, 2 great-grandchildren Paul Steven and Christy, sister-in-law Anne Chudek, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Bayview City Cemetery on Friday, August 12th at 3 PM. Rev. Doug Iben will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or Whatcom Hospice.
