Mimi Baptista Gosano

January 31, 1924 — December 30, 2014

Mimi Gosano passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 30, 2014, just one month before her 91st birthday. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Luigi Gosano, who passed away in July of 2014.

Mimi Baptista was born in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong on January 31, 1924.
She was the eldest of 11 children born to Rudolfo and Elfrida Baptista.

She married Luigi in Hong Kong in 1948. After marriage Mimi continued to work as an
executive secretary to prominent business men in Hong Kong. She also taught school at
Maryknoll School, a kindergarten through 12th grade Catholic Girl's Academy.

In 1961 the couple immigrated to the United States and settled in Glendale, California in
the Los Angeles area. Mimi always said that the high point of her work career was being
a personal secretary to his Eminence, Cardinal James Francis McIntyre, the first Roman
Prelate in the Western United States.

After retirement, her love of travel led her to work in the travel industry part time. Her
favorite destinations were the British Isles and Portugal, her ancestral country where she still has cousins living in Lisbon.

Mimi was a gifted linguist who spoke Portuguese, English and Cantonese fluently. She
also knew French and Spanish. A voracious reader and collector of books, she could
always be found with a book in her hands.

She and her husband Luigi relocated to Bellingham, WA in 2004 to be closer to her
family in Vancouver. Mimi and Luigi had no children of their own but enjoyed the
company of many canine companions. Mimi will be missed by her surviving siblings
and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren around the world.

A family Rosary service will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24
at 9:30 AM. It will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Church of the Assumption at
10:30 AM. After the Mass there will be a luncheon reception at Broadway Hall across
the street from Westford Funeral Home. Interment will be at Enterprise Cemetery on Monday January 26 at 10:30 AM.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal rescue/shelter organization or Church of the Assumption in Bellingham.
