Nanine “Nan” Marler Hills, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Nan grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and spent wonderful summers visiting her grandparents in Destin, Florida. She was attending nursing school when she met Art on a blind date. It was a whirlwind romance! After Art got out of the service, they moved to Washington where they raised their three children.
Nan was a loving mother with a sense of humor and dedication to her children and grandchildren. She went on to finish her nursing degree when the children were teens. Nan enjoyed bowling, sewing quilts, reading, and golf, which she played late into her life. Although she lived in Washington for over 70 years, she remained a Southern belle at heart and loved the Gulf coast, fishing, seafood and swimming.
Nan is survived by her three children, Victoria (Mark) Modrak, Lynda (Ray) Colliver, and Bruce (Kristie) Hills, loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Art Hills, her father, Hugh Marler, her mother, Sophia Marler, and her brother, Bill Marler.
At Nan’s request, there will be no formal service. She will be greatly missed.
