Nghien Thi Truong, age 69, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family, on January 25, 2024. Nghien was the beloved wife of Ty Nguyen, whom she married on February 29th, 1976. Together, they celebrated 47 loving years of marriage. Her kids would always tease them and say that they were only married for a handful of years, since they were uniquely married on a leap year!
Nghien was born in Hue, Vietnam on August 26, 1954, to Thon Truong & Le Thi Mang. At a very young age, she supported her family by working in rice fields along with harvesting and selling goods at street markets in Vietnam. She immigrated to the United States in 1975 at the age of 21.
Nghien took pride in sharing her cooking and hospitality with family, friends, and strangers. She would never leave you with an empty stomach, no matter the circumstance. She loved to host and always sent you on your way with a to-go plate for later. She was most known for her cha gio (Vietnamese eggrolls) that she was sure to bring to any gathering. Above all, Nghien lived a selfless life that was fulfilled by serving others. She was devoted to her family, her faith, and sincerely cared for all people.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bo and Doi Truong; and her daughter, Michelle Nguyen.
Nghien is survived by her husband, Ty; her children, Mike and Alicia Nguyen, Andy and Brittany Nguyen, and Tina and Cody Russell; her grandchildren, Jayden (14), Theo (8), Ella (6), and Lila (2); her sisters, Thu, Cam, Huong, and Sen Truong; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in her home country of Vietnam.
An open house visitation will be held from 6-8pm at Westford Funeral Home on Monday, February 12. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 13 at Church of the Assumption followed by a graveside committal at Bayview Cemetery.
