On May 2nd , 2019, at the age of 92 the heart of Nikolay Mazurets stopped beating.
Nikolay Mazurets was born May 21, 1927 in a village Krasnosilka, region Hmelnitsk, Ukraine. He had a very difficult childhood and youth just like most of his peers. They all lived through famine, destruction and war. They lacked food to eat, clothing to wear and in addition many were dying from very serious infectious diseases. Nikolay’s father passed away when Nikolay was only 5 years old and that made their family’s life even tougher.
Most of Nikolay’s older brothers and a sister were taken as captives to Germany during World War II. By the grace of God they were placed within Christian families so they returned home as Christians. At home they shared the Gospel of Christ with their mother and siblings.
Nikolay and his younger brother and the whole family became Christians. From that point on Nikolay devoted his life to Christ, served Lord whole-heartedly. Because Nikolay became a Christian he endured many trials from the communist government. Nikolay was fined for
attending church services, was denied any work bonuses/commissions, and was threatened that his kids would be taken away from him. Despite all that he did not close his hand from helping the needy, and opened his home for church meetings during the time of persecution.
In 1949 Nikolay married Anna Tomashevskaya. In addition to the trials Nikolay endured from the communist government he also went through the pain of losing his first daughter and his wife Anna in 1984.
In 1995 Nikolay with his family immigrated to the USA where he lived until he passed away. Nikolay leaves behind his second wife Olga, daughter Lyudmila, three grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Nikolay leaves a good example of how to worship God with reverence.
