Norma Elaine Stevens, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was 78, born on October 5, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa to Earl and Bina (Brown) Doty. Norma worked as Membership Coordinator at the Bellingham YMCA for over ten years before graduating from WWU with a degree in Human Services. She began working at WCC in 1981 as an Academic Advisor and The WCC Norma E. Stevens Testing Center was dedicated in her honor for her commitment to student success upon her retirement in 2006. She loved gardening, knitting reading and was a founding member of the Word Struck Book Club. She also enjoyed traveling to the far corners of the globe, experiencing new cultures and raising her dogs. However, through it all, Norma’s greatest passion was her family and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her brothers Dean and Neal Doty and beloved grandson Matthew Stevens in 2014. She is survived by her children, Beth (Jim) Hyland, Ben (Nita) Stevens, Holly Stevens, and Charles (Theresa) Stevens; six grandchildren, Jonathan Hyland, Anna Hyland Rubalcava, Mary Hyland Tashkenbaev, Will, Cori and Gregory Stevens; nine great-grandchildren, sister Donna Agee, and five nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Westford Funeral Home.
