Patricia Ann Hayes

Patricia Ann Hayes, 86, died unexpectedly October 29, 2017 in her home at Parkway Chateau in Bellingham, WA. Pat was born June 13, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to Virgil and Beulah (Wolfrom) Hayes. Her mother died that same year. After her father’s marriage to Nancy Lyons in 1941, Pat grew up in the old Hayes farmstead near Waynetown, IN alongside her stepbrother, Don Lyons. She graduated from Waynetown High School in 1949. In 1956, she relocated to Seattle to be near her brother Don. She attended the University of Washington, taking classes to further her career. Pat was employed by Safeco Title, later Chicago Title, in Seattle, from 1956 until her retirement in 1988. She was a long-standing member of the Seattle Branch of the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women. Pat was known for her love of family and her adventurous spirit. She always lived life to the fullest. She excelled at Fencing and won many trophies. She enjoyed mountain climbing and skiing. She was a member of the Seattle branch of The Mountaineers from 1956-2005. Post-retirement, Pat was a dedicated volunteer for and enjoyed activities at the Ballard NW Senior Center, where she had many friends. In 2014 Pat moved to Bellingham, WA to be near her niece after a short illness. She will be missed by her special friends, Richard and Sandra, as well as many Parkway Chateau residents. Aunt Patty will be mourned by numerous nieces and nephews in Indiana and Washington. A private service will be held at a later time for family in Indiana.
