Patricia "Pat" Hood

March 31, 1934 — January 3, 2025

Bellingham

Patricia “Pat” Ann Hood passed away peacefully at her home on January 3, 2025 at the age of 90. Pat was born March 31, 1934 in Edison, WA to Curtis and Madeline (Jones) Brown. At one year old she moved with her parents to Key Street in Bellingham, WA. She was a Bellingham resident for the rest of her life.

Pat’s educational path began at Campus School located at Western Washington College (WWU) where she attended grades 1-9. She later graduated from Bellingham High school, class of 1952. After graduation, Pat attended Washington State College (WSU) for one year. That summer, on August 21, 1954, Pat married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Finlay Hood, and they were married for over 43 years.

Pat worked at Daw and Son Insurance Company, Wahl’s department store, and then ultimately pursued her interest in bookkeeping by attending Bellingham Business School, then Bellingham Technical College, acquiring skills that would serve her well throughout her career. Pat worked as a bookkeeper for Jerstedt Lumber Company, Golden Rule department store, Dr. William Servais, DDS, and then for the family business, Union Foundry, where she worked well into her 80s. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her dedication to her family and friends.

In 2018, Pat moved to the Village at Cordata where she served for 25 years on the social committee as well as on the HOA board. She was a great connector, always looking for opportunities to meet with friends and spend time in conversation. Pat was a member of the Red Hat Society and started her group, The Mad Hatters of Cordata, where she was Queen Mother. She met so many wonderful people and made long lasting friendships. Pat found joy in gardening where she won first and second place awards from Whatcom County in Bloom for the beautiful planting beds at her home. She also enjoyed knitting and cooking. These hobbies not only brought comfort to her home but also allowed her to create cherished memories with her family. Time spent with loved ones was a priority for Pat and she cherished many family traditions.

Pat was a longtime member of Cornwall Church. She served on the hospitality committee and was active with her Bible study group, where she had several sisters in Christ.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim, son-in-law Mike Glaze, and grandson Chris Glaze. She leaves behind an enduring legacy through her children and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children Mike (Vicki) Hood, Kellie Glaze, and Barb (Hal) Reardon, grandchildren Holly Hood, Stephanie (Collen) George, Nicole (Jon) Lingbloom, Laura (Jose) Perez Reardon, Kurtis (Krisula) Reardon, and Luke (Jessie) Reardon, great-grandchildren Fiona and Calista George, Owen and Ariss Lingbloom, Amara and Isla Perez Reardon, Ezra and Declan Reardon, Eliza Reardon, and a baby on the way.

Pat will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, hospitality, unwavering strength, and dedication to both her work and her loved ones.

Pat’s family wishes to thank 7 Sisters Homecare for the wonderful care they provided for Pat and also Whatcom Hospice for their amazing care and service. Memorial donations can be sent to Whatcom Hospice Foundation
