Paul J. Rose, Phd

Paul James Rose passed away at his home in Everson on June 24, 2022. He was born on February 23, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to Gordon and Rose (Johns) Rose. Paul graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Joseph High School, Detroit, in 1962 and continued on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Detroit in 1966. He earned his first Master of Science degree from Indiana University in 1967. In 1968, Paul joined the United States Army and served as Private, First Class in the Intelligence sector at US Army HQ in Germany. In 1971, he was honorably discharged and returned stateside. After serving his country, Paul furthered his education at Pennsylvania State University, earning his second Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering in 1974 and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering in 1976. He was a member of the Sigma XI fraternity of engineers. Paul completed his educational journey in 1984, earning a Master of Science, Electrical Engineering from Rochester University. Paul performed his work in many areas of scientific and technological development, including assignments at Los Alamos, NM and most recently, as a lead engineer for the Boeing Corporation. Paul loved to travel and visited exotic lands, including Tahiti and the Fiji islands. He had a passion for square dancing and was a licensed Ham radio operator. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Rose and his sister Elizabeth Athey. He is survived by his brother Gordon Rose, Jr., nephews Christopher (Nancy) Rose, Timothy (Kimberly) Rose, nephew Wesley Athey and niece Roseann Athey. Paul was laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park.
