Paul M. Sires passed away on May 29, 2017 surrounded by his beloved family. Paul was born on October 24, 1941 in Bellingham, WA to Melvin and Nanna (Otteson) Sires. Paul graduated from Meridian High School in 1959 and immediately after, joined the Navy. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Patricia Sires. Paul and Patricia lived in Hawaii where he was stationed in Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Greenlet. They returned to Washington in 1966 where he started working for Intalco. In 1971 Paul enlisted in the Army National Guard. He switched over to the Drill Sergeant Unit and finished his military career in 2001. In 2001, after 35 years Paul also retired from Intalco. Paul loved his country and was proud to have served it. Paul had many musical talents and enjoyed performing for his family who he adored the most. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved bragging about them all and it was very rare not to see him watching them at any of their events. He was valued and cherished in the community from teaching and coaching and being a friend to all. He is predeceased by his parents Melvin and Nanna Sires, brother Frank Sires, brother-in-law Bob Weatherby and son-in-law Hank Sundseth. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years years, Patricia Lynn (Simpson) Sires, children Jody Sundseth, Mark (Jennifer) Sires, James (Debbie) Sires, William (Wendy) Sires and Laura (Scott) Mellema, siblings Don (Kathy) Sires, Maxine (Jerry) Monnet and Judi Weatherby, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside Service will be at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm. A memorial service for Paul has been scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Christ Community Church in Bellingham. Share your memories at
