Paul W. Teel, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 4, 2014 after a wonderful day painting a new watercolor and planning another landscape. Paul was born in Bellingham, WA to Dr. Charles and Lillian (McCush) Teel. He was the youngest child, joining older sister Janet and brother Charles. Paul attended Campus School and graduated from Bellingham High School. He graduated from the U of W where he was a proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Paul served in the U.S. Army for two years, including one year in France where he traveled extensively through Europe in an MG sports car he purchased. He then obtained a degree in architecture from the U of W. Paul was an avid sailor often racing his dragon class sailboat “Caper”, owned with his brother. He married Carlye Hawkins from Tacoma. They lived in Leschi and Madison Park while raising their two amazing children, Paul “Skip” and Jennifer. Paul’s unconditional support for his children and their activities was central to his life. He designed many lovely NW contemporary homes on Mercer Island and surrounding areas. Paul and Carlye moved to Mukilteo where they enjoyed life to the fullest. Paul was the well-respected President of their homeowners association for many years. He was a genealogy enthusiast and documented the family back to Charlemagne. Family and friends were the cornerstone of this gentle man’s life. Paul is survived by his loving wife Carlye, son Skip (Christine) and grandsons Henry and Spencer, daughter Jen (Kelly) and grandchildren Tristin and Ollie, brother Charles Teel, brother-in-law George Sharninghouse and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. In lieu of flowers, Paul requests donations to the Ballard NW Senior Center 5429 32nd NW Seattle, WA 98107. A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway at 2 PM on Monday, February 10th.
