Peter Joseph Matthew Godersky was born on April 10, 1954 at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Doctors George and Lois Godersky. Peter was a very special person, much loved and very much cared for by everyone who knew him.
Peter attended the Cove School in Racine, Wisconsin when he was quite young followed later by Riley High School in South Bend. Following high school, Peter worked for Logan Industries in South Bend until moving to Westerville, Ohio in 1995. He was an employee of Alpha Industries in Delaware, Ohio until he moved to Bellingham in 2003. Cascade Connections provided Peter with his final employment until his retirement in 2019.
There have been so many wonderful care givers in Peter’s life including: Mark Hoffmann, MD and the staff at Peace Health Medical Group; Eric Yaremko, DDS and his staff; Peter Pfeiffer, MD; Michele Stelovich who was Peter’s Case Worker at DSHS for many years; the staff at Cascade Connections, especially Peter’s former job coach Don Bane. We are especially thankful to Marylin Flores, Kaitlyn Ronstadt, Kevin Hamada and Christen Mattix Aylard who provided respite care. We are very grateful to Fr. Ross and Fr. Moore and all the people from Sacred Heart parish who befriended Peter and made him feel welcome and appreciated. We thank and commend the personnel from Hospice for the wonderful care and support they have provided Peter.
Peter Joseph Mathew Godersky died at home in Bellingham, WA. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Peter was pre-deceased by his parents Doctors George and Lois Godersky. He is survived by his sister Christine (Philip) Gubbins of Bellingham, WA; sister Janet (Anthony) Ingraffea of Ithaca, N.Y.; brother Dr. John (Barbara Covey) Godersky of Anchorage, AK; and sister Andrea (Tom) Bose of Minneapolis, MN; twelve nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Parish, Bellingham, WA on Monday, February 14 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, Indiana. Peter often joined the Hope House street outreach visiting the homeless and delivering sack lunches.
