Ray Denson, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Bellingham. He was born June 30, 1941 in Madison, WI to George and Bethel Denson. The family moved to Whatcom County when Ray was young. After graduating from Mt. Baker High School in 1959, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. For most of his working years he lived in San Francisco and worked for Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) in California. After his first marriage to Ann Morris, Ray re-united with his high school sweetheart, Gloria Marshall. They married and eventually moved back to Whatcom County. Ray and Gloria made many friends while traveling in their motorhome. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time at the family home on the Yellow Brick Road, where they hosted many family reunions. Ray was a longtime member of American Legion Post # 7. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lorraine, siblings Don, Melvin and Steven, Carol and Arlene. He is survived by his wife Gloria, children Cindy, Susan (Ruben), Patty, Cindi (Dana) and James (Christina), 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, siblings Charles (Pat), Robert (Bernadine), Richard (Sandi), Ione and Martha (Rex), former wife Ann, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28th from 2-4 PM. A Service of Remembrance with Military Honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29th at 11 AM. Reception following across the street at Broadway Hall.
