Richard Thomas Russel Stevens, age 36, passed away in Yuma, AZ on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was born to Thomas and Linda Stevens on September 23, 1986, in Bellingham, WA. Rich loved his family and friends fiercely. He brought smiles to their faces and laughs to their bellies with ease. He is survived by his mother Linda (Steve), wife Vanessa, sister Sara (Kris), nephew Noah, grandmother Beverly (Richard), and grandfather Jerry. He is also survived by many other close friends and family members, including two faithful dogs, Charlie and Bella.
Rich found his passion in home construction where he became very skilled in many different facets of the trade. He was dedicated to his craft and was never outworked. In his most recent years, he had moved to Yuma, Arizona to be close to his grandmother. His love and support of her in their time together served to strengthen an already special bond. He remained close with his family during his time in Yuma, always finding a way to be present. Frequent phone calls and numerous online Mario Kart races made it feel like he was sitting in the same room. He maximized every visit, always taking time for a cribbage game with Grandpa Jerry or just enjoying some family time on the beaches of Lummi Island.
Rich leaves us way too early but he has left us with so many happy memories. He was loved dearly by so many people and he became a cherished part of every life he touched. His smile, his laugh, and his natural charisma will live on in our hearts forever. Please join his family in celebrating his life.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Westford Funeral Home, 1301 Broadway, Bellingham, WA.
