Robert Anderson peacefully passed away Thursday evening November 29th, 2018 at Shuksan Healthcare, alongside his loving bride of 68 years Barbara. Bob was born October 18th, 1928 to mother Ruth Anderson in Lobley, Alberta, Canada. At the age of 4 his mom moved the family to Ferndale. At the age of 15 Bob entered the Merchant Marines and at 17 enlisted in the US Navy. He worked in multiple jobs, auto mechanic, commercial fishing and commercial painter before finding his calling as a carpenter. As a self-employed contractor Bob built more than 45 homes, condo’s, and apartment complexes in Whatcom & Skagit Counties. A self-made man Bob retired at the young age of 56 to travel throughout Mexico before settling in Mesa Arizona where they spent the next 13 winters. He had many hobbies he enjoyed including hunting, fishing, oil painting, jewelry making, gardening, intarsia and building anything out of wood. Bob was proceeded in death by his mother Ruth, brother Paul Anderson and sister Mae Wemp. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara, son Cary (Janie) Anderson, 3 grandchildren Tyler (Caron) Anderson, Trevor Anderson and Amy (Eric) Ellenz and 4 great grandchildren, Maya, Chase, Cash and Barrett. Although this is a sad day for us all, Bob is in a better place. He will be sorely missed, never forgotten, and forever loved and adored by his friends and family. A Memorial Service for Bob will be held on Friday, December 7th at 1 pm at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Christ the Servant Lutheran Church or Whatcom Hospice House.
